Private Chess Lessons

Currently accepting students ranging from beginner to approximately 1400 USCF

Pricing: $35/hour or  $300 for 10 lessons.

Location: Lessons are available in the instructor's home in Exton, at the student's home in the area, or other public locations conducive for a game of chess. Joshua is willing to work with you in determining a convenient location for all parties or meet for lessons over skype.

Tournament Direction

We also offer full-service freelance tournament direction, from organization through facilitation. Pricing will vary.

About Joshua Anderson

Joshua Anderson is ranked in the top 10% in the country, with a USCF rating of 1818. He is currently an instructor with Shining Knights Chess, PA; tournament director for Silver Knights Chess, Holly Heisman Memorial annual tournament and the Philadelphia Junior Invitational; and coordinating judge for the Chess Journalists of America. A published chess journalist, Joshua has contributed to Chessville Weekly,  jeremysilman.com, and other sites.  His most recent on-line article, a piece on the Duchamp exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Museum can be found at http://www.uschess.org/content/view/11984/688 .  Joshua also has a report in the December, 2012 Chess Life and is featured in that issue's "Faces Over the Board."  He is also the editor for The Pennswoodpusher, Pennsylvania's state-wide chess journal and the State Scholastic Coordinator.

Joshua has been offering private instruction to students since 2007, and has helped students achieve national rankings and has worked with students who are currently on the top 100, age  .  He is also the coach of the last two K - 3 Pennsylvania state champions.  He has also had students ranked in the top 100, age 8, in the United States and in the top 100, age 7, as well as the top rated 7 and 8 year olds in the state of Pennsylvania.
